Pieced Together
This botanical painting is a collage of collected imprints from my various plant pressings over the past few months that created layers of unique patterns and color combinations. With these I am exploring the idea of taking something used and (in theory) discarded then repurposing it into something new. Similar to quilts that are made with bits of fabric that has been saved over time I saved scraps of paper to then cut, arrange, and adhered onto a canvas.
The abstracted florals and foliage are layered to create an inviting composition that will draw you in to look further to see the hidden details within. And the soft neutral and natural earth tones radiate a warm organic energy.
